A large French region bordering Spain offering tremendous contrasts and infinite variety for all lovers of nature with the departements of Ariege, Aveyron, Haute-Garonne, Gers, Lot, Hautes-Pyrenees, Tan, Tarn-et-Garonne. From the warm plateaux of the Rouergûe and Quercy areas to the soaring peaks of the Pyrénées, the wild beauty of the gorges of the Tarn or the blue hills of Armagnac.
This Region's countryside is to be explored slowly, on foot or horseback, in a canoe or a boat on the canals. Or, of course.... on skis. The nature conservation parks of the Pyrénées and the Haut-Languedoc have imposing settings; their rivers are ideal for fishing trout and salmon.
The area also bears the traces of a multitude of different cultures: there are the prehistoric caves of Pech Merle, Niaux or the Mas d'Azil; the Cathar fortress at Montsegur; the large historic towns of Toulouse, Auch, Montauban and Albi; and the medieval villages of Cordes, Conques or Rocamadour. Not forgetting the world wide pilgrimage town of Lourdes.
