The region of 'Centre' consists of the departements of Cher, Eure-et-Loir, Indre, Indre-et-Loire, Loir-et-Cher & Loiret and covers much of the famous Loire Valley, as well as Chartres on one side of the river and the Berry area on the other. The mild climate afforded by nearness to the Atlantic fully justifies its reputation as a kindly place.
Best known for the impressive and fascinating Chateaux of the Loire, this region also offers a gourmets' paradise as well as a wealth of history. The cathedrals and churches are also famous - Chartres, Bourges, Saint-Benoit-sur-Loire or Fontgombault. Here, in the 'Garden of France' as it is widely known, you well be greeted by long stretches of river, sunny slopes with fertile vineyards and green valleys.
