A marvellous contrast of old and new, reaching from the high peaks and wild gorges of the departement of Lozere to Aude, Garde, Herault & Pyrenees-Orientales which offer 125 miles of coastline, running from the Camargue to the Pyrenees and encompass the Cevennes.
This is an area invaded many times since prehistoric times and Rome has left us Nimes with its amphitheatre and 'Maison Carree' as well as the Pont du Gard and Narbonne, while Perpignan was once the capital of the Kings of Majorca.
The 20th century has made this sunny, hospitable area one of the best equipped holiday areas in Europe, developing the immense stretch of beaches - La Grande Motte, Port-Barcares or Port-Leucate - without spoiling their natural beauty or historic features. Overall this wine producing region of Southern France offers hospitality and a warm welcome all year round.
