These two provinces, united by the impressive Vosges mountains, share some of the most eventful chapters in French history and boast some of the most famous thermal spas in the world - Vittel, Contrexeville, Plombieres and Baines-les-Bains.
Lorraine has its own historical and artistic unity: Metz has its Gallo-Roman museum and Nancy its Museum of Lorraine.
