We have split the hotels firstly into good quality Three* and Four* and then all the 'room-only no frill hotels' in France which we know. These cheaper hotels are nearly always not central but on the outskirts of large towns. www.logis-de-france A large selection of good quality smaller hotels throughout France – most in small towns and village locations. This chain has 37 Four* quality hotels throughout France with restaurants and, usually, swimming pools. This chain has 140 Four* hotels. Rooms cost around £50-£60 (80-95 euros) with either one or two children (under 16) able to share a room free of charge, but check on the website for special offers.
This group has 120 Three* hotels throughout France with restaurants and some with swimming pools. Rates vary but expect to pay from £50 to £70 (89-105 euros) for two adults and up to two children (under 16) sharing a room, but check on the website for special offers. www.ibishotel.com This group has 330 Three* hotels with restaurants, cafes or bars serving snacks. Rooms cost around £36 (56 euros) for two people. Check with the hotel direct to see if they allow children to share a room. Budget Hotels www.hotel-bb.com Rooms for 1, 2 or 3 people with TV, WC and shower from £18 (28 euros). Family rooms are available in some of the hotels (2 adults and 2 children) from 36 euros www.villages-hotel.com Rooms for 1, 2 or 3 people with TV, WC and shower from £17 (27 euros). Family rooms are available in some of the hotels (2 adults and 2 children) from 35 euros www.etaphotel.com This chain has Two* and Three* hotels with rooms around £21 (30.5 euros) for 2 people, with £3 supplement for a third person sharing. Breakfast is around £3. www.hotelformule1.com This hotel group has 290 functional Two* and Three* rooms with a WC and shower. The nightly rate is around £20 (30 euros). Buffet breakfast is £2.50 and are suitable for an overnight stay. www.fasthotel.com This is a smaller chain with around 50 hotels. Rooms are basic with a WC and shower but the nightly rate is around £19 (29 euros) for 2 sharing. Breakfast is £3. www.hotels-akena.com This has just 28 hotels throughout France. The cheapest rooms are basic with a WC and shower has a nightly rate of £17 (26 euros) making them fine for a quick overnight stay. Buffet breakfast at £2.50-£3.50. They Relais Akena, which have a restaurant are slightly more expensive at £26 (40 euros) www.balladins.com This group has 56 hotels with restaurants throughout France – some with swimming pools. Rooms are £25 (38 euros) for two people or £30 (46 euros) for three people. Buffet breakfasts cost around £3.50 and sometimes the restaurant is closed on Sunday. www.premiereclasse.com The rooms are basic with a WC and shower but the nightly rate is between £17 and £25 (26-38 euros) making them fine for a quick overnight stay.
