Not only does it have its own pool but is well positioned in a quiet area of the seaside town of Saint Palais sur Mer which has a great beach and a good selection of shops. Within just 300m there is a super market, tennis courts and a large lake and the long beach starts within 500m. The airports of La Rochelle is within 80kms and Cognac within 100kms.
The house has a large living/dining room which is tiled and has large patio windows which open onto the garden and give lots of light. The room is tastefully decorated and has a range of comfortable chairs as well as a TV. The open planned kitchen is modern and well equipped with a washing up machine, washing machine, electric kettle, hoover, coffee machine, etc.
There is also a covered back leading to the pool with a shower and a separate bathroom and wc. There are 3 bedrooms for up to 6/7 people.

This superb large detached villa is unusually on the small island of Ile d'Aix and can also provide a larger house for up to 14 people if required (please see property ref 1447). It is ideally situated being just 200m from the sea. The island is 3kms long and 700m wide and has a diverse and varied landscape with lots of beaches and forests plus shops and restaurants. There are regular ferries and you have to leave your car in Fouras - leaving not just your car on the mainland but also noise and stress! (The owner will let you leave your car in his locked garage on the mainland just a short distance from where you take the boat. He also keeps a small trolley in the garage to help you transport your luggage to the holiday cottage more easily about 1km from where you get off the ferry). The island has lots to do - sailing, fishing, tennis, walking and other watersports.
The house is built on one level and faces due South. It is surrounded by a large (1000m2) shady garden and has a spacious veranda, a terrace and outside kitchen. Accommodation consists of a hallway and a living/dining room with a double sofabed. There is a fireplace, comfortable chairs as well as a TV, DVD and HiFi. There are 2 double bedrooms and a twin bedroom plus a bathroom with shower unit in the bath, with a sink and washing machine. There is also a separate wc. You can even fish at the side of the property and wildlife is abundant on the river. This gite is in an ideal location being within easy reach of Dampierrewhere there is a boulangerieand bar/restaurant. The nearest larger town is Aulnay where is a market on Thursday and Sunday morning as well as banks, supermarkets and restaurants. Cognac is within 30 minutes, La Rochelle with its harbour and airport is within 45 minutes and Bordeaux to the South is only 90 minutes via the autoroute. The nearest sandy beach is Chatelaillon Plage which is under 30 minutes and St George de Didonne about 45 minutes away.
Travel cot and high chairs can be provided as well as laundry facilities. Long weekends and short stays accepted.
